7 Reasons why you should start sleeping on the left side

3. Less Heartburn

Of course it hurts to have heartburn. It can be an effect of eating before going to sleep, since a prone position allows stomach acid to rise into the esophagus. What is interesting is that scientists have discovered that sleeping on your left side minimizes heartburn while sleeping on your right side can cause the opposite.

This can be reduced to the fact that the stomach is on the left side of our body. When we sleep on the left side, the connection between the stomach and the esophagus remains higher than the level of acidity. On the right side, however, the sphinx of the esophagus is relaxed and allows the acidity to pass through without a problem.
