An ancient discipline
Yoga has been practiced relatively recently all over the world. Towards the middle of the 20th century this discipline slowly made its way into the Nordic countries, reached its peak in the 1980s, and has continued its development to the present day. However, Sir John Marshall, a British archaeologist, discovered evidence that the practice of yoga goes back even further than previously thought, as he came across an anthropomorphic figure dating from the 17th century BC in which a person can be seen cross-legged, surrounded by animals and in a meditative attitude. Therefore, it is possible to think that yoga has 37 centuries behind it. Read: New trends in yoga, did you think you had seen it all?
